Dear Colleagues & Friends,
Welcome to the 15th International Symposium of Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics (ISVEE 15) and welcome to Chiang Mai.
This is time of great change for wildlife, domestic animals, and humans – particularly those of us in the field of public health at the local, regional and global levels, in education, research and public policy, as well as veterinarians and epidemiologists.
All of us are inextricably linked, making interdisciplinary collaboration essential if we are to take a proactive stance in addressing the crucial healthcare challenges facing our ecosystem. For this reason, we felt that the theme of “Learning & Sharing Today, Building a Better Tomorrow” was particularly pertinent. And we would like to invite graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, researchers and policymakers to join us at this international forum for the exchange of information with the common goal of advancing the interrelated fields of veterinary epidemiology and economics.
We will also be joined by a distinguished roster of speakers, who will be sharing their unique vision and wisdom with us. Like the delegates, our faculty will come from a wide range of disciplines, from education and technology to research and policymaking.
I am delighted that ISVEE 15 will be held in Thailand’s blissfully calm northern capital of Chiang Mai. Nestled in the forested foothills of the north, the former seat of the Lanna kingdom will provide a brilliant backdrop for the task before us. I am certain that this fifteenth symposium, which comes at such a crucial time for our world, will provide the necessary impetus for expanding, advancing and improving healthcare in the 21st century and beyond.
I look forward to greeting all of you personally in Chiang Mai.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sudson Sirivaidyapong
